PBR on the Move

Description

Patrol Boat, River or PBR was the US Navy designation for rigid-hulled patrol boats used in the Vietnam War.  The PBR was typically armed with twin 50 caliber machine guns forward, an M60 machine gun, a Mark 18 grenade launcher, and sometimes a 20 mm cannon. They were used to stop and search river traffic in areas such as the Mekong Delta and Saigon River, frequently becoming involved in firefights with enemy soldiers on boats and on the shore.  With a water jet drive which enabled it to operate in shallow, weed-choked rivers, PBR's were also used to infiltrate Navy SEAL teams.
